OmniSite enables municipal water operators to monitor water levels and control pumping systems in real time, without specialized programming or technical staff.
INDIANAPOLIS, IN, UNITED STATES, November 3, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — OmniSite, a family-owned cellular and cloud-based remote monitoring company in Indianapolis, Indiana, has expanded its capabilities to include remote water level monitoring for municipal drinking water systems. The feature, built on the company’s peer-to-peer control technology, allows water plant operators to configure and manage water towers and pumping stations in minutes — without complex programming or dedicated technical staff.
For many smaller municipalities, maintaining a reliable drinking water supply means managing multiple water towers and pumps in complex alternation or zoned arrangements. Traditional SCADA systems often require custom programming, specialized technical staff, and significant ongoing expense. OmniSite’s remote water level monitoring offers a different approach: operators configure the system using a simple peer-to-peer control table — a fill-in-the-blanks format that eliminates the need for specialized programming skills.
“Many small towns simply can’t afford the technical staff to work on complex monitoring systems,” said Tom Ward, President and CEO of OmniSite, who founded the company in 1998. “Our peer-to-peer control table lets a water plant operator configure any system — whether it’s a single tower or multiple towers and pumps in a zoned arrangement — in minutes, not weeks.”
The peer-to-peer control feature, released in October 2024, enables OmniSite devices to communicate directly with one another across distances. When a high-level alarm triggers at one station, the system signals another device to respond immediately — stopping a pump, for example. Three products support this capability: the OmniBeacon, the XR50, and the Crystal Ball, each a cellular alarm device that transmits real-time notifications via text message, voice, and email.
All data flows through GuardDog, OmniSite’s secure, cloud-based interface. GuardDog provides live system updates accessible from a tablet, PC, or phone, along with timestamped history logs that record every alarm, who was called, and who responded. The software is included at no extra charge with the purchase of cellular service and comes with a free smartphone app. OmniSite now offers an application programming interface (API) that allows alarm and data from any OmniSite device to be shared with your existing SCADA software, so everything is in one platform.
OmniSite has tens of thousands of monitors installed at municipal sewage and water pumping stations across the United States. The company, originally established as Logical Concepts, Inc. in 1998, has operated from Indianapolis since its founding. Ward started the business in his garage, applied for the company’s first patent on cellular technology in 2001, and has since built a product line that spans wastewater monitoring, drinking water control, and AI-powered process analysis.
The company also offers in-person product training at no cost at its Indianapolis training facility. The sessions span 1.5 days and are designed to help operators work with OmniSite products and the GuardDog interface.
