Rossby Financial, an open-architecture registered investment adviser (RIA), today announced it surpassed $1 billion in assets under management (AUM).
The growth milestone comes roughly three years after Andrew J. Evans founded the firm with a simple idea: advisors should keep what they build. Rossby replaced traditional basis-point pricing with transparent, flat-fee pricing that allows advisors to retain their advisory revenue minus applicable expenses and fees. Today, Rossby supports 20 partner firm offices across approximately 3,000 client accounts.
Before founding Rossby, Evans spent two decades inside firms like Raymond James, Merrill Lynch, Charles Schwab, and Cambridge Investment Research. Then, he decided to build something different. Evans credits Rossby’s AUM milestone to the leadership team that joined him in building the firm; this group is led largely by women with deep experience in operations, compliance, business development, and advisor transitions.
The team behind the milestone includes:
- Marissa Harris, CERP, Chief Compliance Officer. Marissa brings more than 19 years of experience helping broker-dealer and investment adviser firms design, build, and implement effective compliance and risk programs. Her background includes senior leadership roles at Synchrony Financial, JLA Securities, Ally Invest, LPL Financial, and TradeKing. She founded JBD Risk & Compliance in 2023.
- Lindsay Evans, MBA, Chief Operating Officer. Lindsay joined Rossby as COO in 2026 after nearly 15 years in product and operations leadership, most recently as Vice President of Product at Kare and Director of Product Management at Touchtown. She has served on customer advisory boards for Twilio and Checkr and leads Rossby’s operations, data, and advisor-experience infrastructure, including internal technology she builds herself.
- Grier Rubeling, Director, ROffice. Grier leads transition consulting and business development for Rossby’s sister business ROffice. She founded Advisor Transition Services in 2018, previously served as director of operations for an RIA, and began her career in client service at UBS and Smith Barney.
- Caileigh Carfang, Operations Administrator. Caileigh has been with the firm since 2023, providing executive, operations, and supervisory support across Rossby’s partner offices.
- Drew Keesee, Technical Liaison. Drew is the bridge between clients, advisors, and the technology they rely on every day, troubleshooting systems and improving workflows so the tools actually support the work. She also serves as Lead Administrator at Rossby Wealth, the independent wealth management firm for families that are navigating their next decades. Before getting into financial services, Drew worked as a personal trainer. She is a native of the Melbourne area.
“I had the idea; they built the firm,” Evans said. “People ask how a three-year-old RIA gets to a billion dollars. The real answer is I stopped trying to do everything myself and surrounded myself with these women who are amazing at their jobs; better than I could ever be. Lindsay runs the machine. Marissa keeps us right with the regulators. Grier brings data together for the moves. Caileigh and Drew are the reason advisors pick up the phone and the reason they stay. This growth belongs to them as much as to me.”
Among the innovations that have been created since this team was assembled is the Rossby Advisor Profitability Calculator. It enables advisors to input their practice’s financial considerations to determine if they’re operating in the best model for themselves.
What’s Next?
Rossby plans to keep doing what got the firm here: a flat access fee instead of basis points, no override of payout of bps on advisory fees, clients that belong to the advisor in writing, and technology picked for the advisor rather than for the platform. The firm is actively welcoming experienced independent advisors who want to keep what they build.
“A billion is a big, respectable number, but it isn’t the point and it’s never been the point,” Evans added. “It’s serendipitous that four out of our top five partner firms are women-owned and led. We believe what is setting us apart with our firms is how transparent we actually are.”
The four top partner firm leaders are: Jessica Dillon, CPWA, Kelly Renner, CFP, Jennifer Szeklinski, and Frances Toler, MSFS.
Rossby didn’t set out to be a women-focused RIA, but its clear, thoughtful approach is catching the attention of those women who have been with firms that just give platitudes. The Rossby management team is taking action for them.
